Indane LPG Scam Alert: Check New Connection Process & 30-Day Gas Cylinder Rule For Indane, HP Gas & Bharat Gas
Indian Oil Corp Ltd. has issued an urgent public advisory to warn the Indane Gas users to stay alert against fraudsters who pose as company representatives and demand money for new LPG gas connections and other services.
In a post on its official X account, IndianOil said that unverified individuals are approaching potential LPG customers and asking money for new gas cylinder connections.
No public sector oil marketing company has appointed any agency or person to solicit money from candidates at any stage, and OMCs will not be responsible for amounts paid to such individuals or groups.
The PSU has advised consumers to rely only on official mobile applications such as IndianOil ONE and to refrain from sharing personal details, banking information, OTPs, or authentication codes through unknown calls, messages, or suspicious links.

The Right Way To Apply For A New LPG Connection Via Indane, HP Gas & Bharat Gas
Customers can apply for a new LPG connection from any OMCs either online through the official portal or offline by visiting an authorised distributor.
For online applications, people can follow the steps below
Step 1: Visit the IndianOil LPG services portal, or the HPCL/BPCL website
Step 2: Select the option for a new LPG connection
Step 3: Fill in the online application form with personal and address details and upload the required KYC documents,
Step 4: Choose the nearest Indane LPG distributor, and wait for the distributor to contact you for installation and payment of security deposits.
Applicants can also apply via the UMANG portal.
The SAHAJ (e-SV) online process allows customers to register for a new LPG connection by completing the online KYC form and uploading supporting proof of address and identity documents, after which IndianOil conducts an inter-company KYC de-duplication check online.
For offline applications, customers visit the nearest Indane LPG distributor office, collect and fill out the new LPG connection application or KYC form, submit the required identity and address proof documents, and pay the applicable security deposit. After document verification, the distributor processes the application and schedules installation.
Documents Required For New Gas Cy;inder Connection
Documents required for a new Indane, Bharat Gas or HP Gas connection include identity proof such as Aadhaar, Voter ID, Driving Licence, or Passport, along with address proof such as a recent electricity or water bill, bank statement, lease agreement, or ration card. Aadhaar is particularly important as it is the document through which customers receive their subsidy under the Direct Benefit Transfer scheme.
Once your connection is active, refills can be booked via the IndianOil ONE app, WhatsApp (send REFILL to 7588888824), SMS, IVRS, or the official website, with subsidy credited directly to eligible households under the PAHAL scheme.
New LPG Refill Booking Rules In 2026
The government has revised its LPG refill booking rules this year are the global supply concerns and geopolitical pressures.
The lock-in period for refilling LPG cylinders for both 14.2kgs and 5Kgs cylinder connection has been revised to 25 days for customers in urban areas and 45 days for customers in rural areas, increasing from the earlier 21-day interval.
LPG To PNG: 30 Day Rule
Meanwhile, the government has also introduced the "One Household, One Gas Connection" rule .Under the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Amendment Order, 2026, notified on May 25, households that adopt a PNG connection must surrender their existing LPG connection within 30 days.
This new 30 days rule by the government is a big step to reduce duplicate connections and stop black marketing by preventing the misuse of subsidised commercial cylinders,
