Indian Passport Fees in UAE Hiked From July 1: Check New Charges for Renewal, Tatkal, PCC and More for Expats

Indian nationals living in the UAE will have to pay higher charges for passport-related services from July 1, following a revision in the fee structure by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The revised rates have been implemented across the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi, the Consulate General of India in Dubai, and all authorised Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs) in the country.

The increase affects a wide range of services, including fresh passport applications, passport renewals, Tatkal services, replacement of lost or damaged passports, police clearance certificates (PCCs) and several other consular services. For millions of Indians residing in the UAE, the revision is expected to increase documentation costs, particularly for families renewing multiple passports or individuals requiring urgent passport services.

New Passport Fee Structure: 36-Page and 60-Page Passport Charges Increased Under Revised MEA Rules

Under the revised fee schedule, obtaining or renewing a standard 36-page passport has become significantly more expensive. The government fee has increased from Dh285 to Dh450, while the cost of a 60-page passport, generally preferred by frequent travellers, has risen from Dh380 to Dh630.

The revised charges stem from the Passports (Amendment) Rules notified by the Ministry of External Affairs through a Gazette notification issued on June 20. Although the revised rules apply globally, the final increase varies across countries depending on local currency conversions and administrative structures.

With nearly 4.5 million Indians residing in the UAE, the revised fee structure is expected to affect a large section of expatriates, including professionals, students, business owners, domestic workers, seafarers and families who require passport renewals for residency, employment and travel purposes.
