Maternity Insurance Plans do not come as an exclusive plan particularly covering maternity related expenses. Instead, health and general insurance companies provide for maternity as a rider. Individuals considering family planning can opt for such plans in advance to make their parenthood experience stress free at least on the financial front.

Cigna TTK ProHealth Insurance Plus Plan

With a maximum health cover of Rs. 10 lakh, this plan by Cigna TTK offers a cover for maternity and new born expenses. First year vaccination of the new born is also covered under the policy. The entry age for an adult in the policy is 18 years while a child of 91 days can be enrolled in the plan. Policy term can be either 1 or 2 years.
For a normal delivery, a maximum cover of Rs. 15,000 is offered while for a caesarean delivery the amount is Rs. 25,000. Waiting period i.e the period after which the cover is offered is 48 months. However, waiting term can be reduced to a year upon additional premium payment. Maternity related hospitalization expenses are not covered under the policy.

Star Health Wedding Gift Insurance Plan:

With a maximum cover of Rs. 10 lakh and a waiting period of 3 years, the insurance policy covers a maximum of 2 deliveries. The plan provides a cover for child-birth, pre as well as post natal expenses. New born expenses including any congenital disease is also covered under the plan. Any complication to the mother after the delivery is also covered under the plan. Clinical tests upto a maximum amount of Rs. 1000 shall also be covered in case foetus is diagnosed with some problem. However, the coverage is extended only after the waiting period of 27 months.

Apollo Munich’s Easy Health Family Floater

Exclusive and premium plans of the Easy Health Policy provide for maternity as well as new born expenses cover. For a sum assured value of Rs.3-5 lakhs, normal delivery expenses upto Rs. 15,000 and caesarean expenses upto Rs. 25,000 are covered. The cover is inclusive of Rs. 1500 for pre-natal and post-natal expenses.
For a sum assured value of Rs.7.5 lakhs or Rs lakhs, normal delivery expenses upto Rs. 25,000 and caesarean expenses upto Rs. 40,000 are covered. The cover is inclusive of Rs. 2500 for pre-natal and post-natal expenses. Waiting period to become eligible for the cover is 4 years. New born cover (optional is offered upon additional premium payment

The plan features an option to secure either of the two sum assured values i.e Rs. 3 lakhs and Rs. 5 lakhs. The entry age for an adult is 18 years while for the new born is 1 day. For, a sum assured value of Rs. 3 lakhs, maternity cover of a maximum of Rs. 35,000 is extended while for SA value of Rs. 5 lakhs, a cover including both pre-natal and post-natal expenses of Rs.50,000 is provided. New born baby cover of Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 50,000 is provided for Rs. 3 lakhs and Rs. 5 lakhs sum assured values respectively

Max Bupa Heartbeat Family Floater

With a waiting period of 2 years and a maximum cover for upto 2 deliveries, the Heartbeat Family floater plan offers maternity as well as new born care coverage under all of its plans namely gold, silver and platinum. First year vaccinations for the new born are also covered under the policy.
