Sensex Falls Over 900 Points Amid COVID Surge In Some Countries

BSE Sensex today witnessed sharp decline of 925 points to 59,900 and NSE Nifty fell by 305 points to 17,821 amid weak global market trends as investors sentiment remain muted in view of the COVID surge in some countries, according to a PTI report.

The 30-share BSE Sensex continued to remain under selling pressure for the fourth day running and tumbled 925 points to 59,900 in afternoon trade. On similar lines, the broader NSE Nifty declined 300 points to 17,821, added the PTI report.

 

From the Sensex pack, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, State Bank of India, Infosys, HDFC, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finance and Power Grid were the major laggards in morning trade.
Adani Ports fell sharply by 6% in trade today. Meanwhile, Hindalco and Adani Enterprises witnessed a decline of over 4% in trade today till afternoon.

Nifty Bank declined 745 points to 41,663 in late afternoon trade and Nifty Midcap saw a decline of 993 points to 30,343 on December 23.
