With strong loan growth, enhanced asset quality, and higher profitability, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank reported and displayed outstanding financial performance in Q4 FY25. In addition to the outstanding Q4 performance, the two major Indian banks have announced that they will be paying dividends in FY25. In this article, we'll briefly discuss the dividend payout, Q4 performance, and which stock-ICICI Bank or HDFC Bank-is best to buy for long-term gains.

HDFC Bank Dividend
At its April 19 meeting, the Board of Directors recommended a dividend of Rs. 22 per equity share of Re. 1 each, fully paid up, or 2200 per cent, for FY 2024-2025, subject to shareholders' approval. Friday, June 27, 2025, is the record date which will be used to determine the eligibility of members entitled to receive the said dividend.
HDFC Bank Q4 Results
The company's standalone net profit was Rs 17,616.14 Cr, up 6.7% from Rs 16,511.85 Cr in the same period last year. In Q4FY25, the bank's net income was Rs 89,487.99 Cr, compared to Q4FY24's Rs 89,639 Cr. The bank's net interest income jumped by 10.3% from Rs 29,080 crore for the quarter ending March 31, 2024, to Rs 32,070 crore for the quarter ending March 31, 2025.
In Q4FY25, HDFC Bank recorded a consolidated net profit of Rs 18,834.88 Cr, up 6.9% YoY from Q4FY24's net profit of Rs 17,622.38 Cr. The bank's March 2025 quarter consolidated net income was Rs 1,20,268.76 Cr, a 3.3% YoY drop from the March 2024 quarter's Rs 1,24,391.35 Cr.
The bank's total income for the year ended March 31, 2025, was Rs 3,46,150 crore, up from Rs 3,07,580 crore the year before. PAT (profit after tax) climbed by 10.7% from FY24 to Rs 67,350 crore in FY25.
HDFC Bank Share Price Target
"The stock has made a strong move into uncharted territory, supported by positive volume momentum, signaling further upside potential. A breakout above its recent peak reflects the strength in the counter and reinforces the bullish trend. Currently trading above all its long-term moving averages, the stock is in a solid uptrend, indicating room for further gains," commented KKunal V Parar VP of Technical Research and Algo at Choice Broking.
"Additionally, the daily RSI is comfortably above the 50 level, suggesting positive momentum and breadth. With this favorable technical outlook, we project the stock to move towards the 2000 to 2110 range, with a strict stop-loss at 1840," the analyst further added.
ICICI Bank Dividend
On April 19, the Board put forward, subject to the necessary approvals, a dividend of Rs 11/-per equity share with a face value of 2/-each. Following approval by the members at the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the bank, the dividend on equity shares will be paid.
ICICI Bank Q4 Results
The bank's profit after tax grew by 18.0% YoY to Rs 12,630 Cr in Q4FY25 from Rs 10,708 Cr in Q4-FY24, while its net profit climbed by 15.5% YoY to Rs 47,227 Cr in FY2025 from Rs 40,888 Cr in the year ended March 31, 2024 (FY2024). ICICI Bank reports that its net interest income (NII) climbed by 11.0% YoY, from Rs 19,093 Cr in Q4FY24 to Rs 21,193 Cr in Q4FY25. The gross non-performing asset ratio was 1.67% on March 31, 2025, and 1.96% on December 31, 2024.
The net NPA ratio reached 0.42% on December 31, 2024, and 0.39% on March 31, 2025. Gross non-performing assets (NPA) additions were Rs 5,142 crore in Q4 2025 and Rs 6,085 Cr in Q3 2025. Consolidated profit after tax in Q4 2025 was Rs 13,502 crore, increasing 15.7% from Rs 11,672 crore in Q4 2024. The bank's total assets grew by 11.8% year on year, from Rs 23,64,063 crore on December 31, 2024, to Rs 26,42,241 crore on March 31, 2025.

"The stock has already broken out of its Falling Wedge formation, and we are currently witnessing positive rhythm in the counter in form of follow-up movement. It has entered into new territory, supported by positive volume momentum, indicating potential for further movement," commented KKunal V Parar VP of Technical Research and Algo at Choice Broking.
"The stock is trading above all of its long-term moving averages, signaling a strong uptrend and suggesting more upside potential. Additionally, the daily momentum indicator RSI is trending above the 50 mark, reflecting a positive breadth in the stock. Given the technical setup, we expect a strong upward move towards the levels of 1480 to 1600, with a strict stop-loss at 1320," the analyst further recommended.
