The Mahayuti government in Maharashtra, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is set to enhance its flagship Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana by increasing the monthly allowance from Rs.1,500 to Rs.2,100. This announcement has brought renewed hope to millions of beneficiaries across the state.
Key Announcements from the New Government
During his first press conference after taking the oath as Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis confirmed that the proposed hike in monthly assistance will be tabled during the budget session of the newly formed Mahayuti 2.0 government. In his speech, Fadnavis emphasized that his administration will continue to strengthen the scheme.
"The most important thing is that we are going to continue the Ladki Bahin Yojana. We will increase the benefit to Rs. 2,100 after ensuring that our finances are properly aligned," he said as quoted by The Business Today.

The scheme, which has already disbursed Rs. 7,500 instalments to approximately 2.4 crore beneficiaries, will undergo further scrutiny to ensure only eligible candidates receive the benefit. Fadnavis hinted at refining the application process to prevent misuse while confirming that the scheme's core objectives will remain intact.
Senior BJP leader and outgoing minister Sudhir Mungantiwar also hinted at the proposed hike, emphasizing that the decision will be finalized in a cabinet meeting. "It is the cabinet's prerogative to decide how and when to increase the amount," Mungantiwar said, assuring that the government is fully committed to women's welfare.
