The LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana is a women-centric scheme, offering opportunities and incentives. This scheme which was launched in December last year, is easily available for women from the age group of 18 years to 70 years. While offering skilled trainings and enabling women to become life insurance agents, LIC's Bima scheme also provides fixed stipends and commissions for the first three years of joining.
What Is Bima Sakhi Yojana?
LIC-backed Bima Sakhi Yojana is a unique model of social security and women empowerment. The scheme is aimed at promoting financial inclusion in rural India and empowering women. Trained women from Self Help Groups (SHGs) across the country will be appointed as 'Bima Sakhis' at the Gram Panchayat level.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Bima Sakhi Yojana in December last year, aligning with the government's vision of 'Insurance for All by 2047' and the goal of a self-reliant India (Atmanirbhar Bharat). The 'Bima Sakhi' scheme aims to not only make women financially independent but also ensure the effective delivery of social security schemes to rural communities.
That being said, the scheme is aimed at rural and semi-urban areas.
LIC Bima Sakhi Benefits:
Under the scheme, LIC is offering Rs 48,000 as first year commission which is excluding bonus commission. Further, LIC pays stipend of Rs 7,000 per month for the first year.
For the second year, the stipend amount is Rs 6,000 per month, subject to at least 65% of Policies completed in the First stipendiary year being in force as at the end of the corresponding month of the second stipendiary year.
For the third year, the stipend value is Rs 5,000 per month, subject to at least 65% of Policies completed in the Second stipendiary year being in force as at the end of the corresponding month of the third stipendiary year.
LIC Bima Sakhi Scheme Eligibility Criteria:
Women from the age group of 18 years to 70 years can join the scheme. The minimum qualification is the 10th class. The appointment of a person under the MCA scheme will not be treated as a salaried appointment as an employee of the Corporation.
The women should have basic communication and interpersonal skills.
Who cannot join the LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana?
- Women below 18 years of age.
- Relatives of existing Agents or Employees shall not be eligible to be recruited as MCAs. Relatives shall include the following family members - Spouse, Children, including adopted and step children (whether dependent or not), Parents, Brothers, Sisters and immediate In-laws.
- A Retired employee of the Corporation or an Ex-agent seeking reappointment shall not be granted agency under the MCA scheme.
- An existing agent can not apply for recruitment as an MCA.
LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana Documents:
The latest passport size photograph should be uploaded along with the Application form.
Also, the following documents should be attached to the application form:-
- Self-attested copy of Age proof
- Self-attested copy of Address proof
- Self-attested copy of certificate of Educational Qualification
On its website, LIC said that the application is liable to be rejected if the information furnished is incomplete.
