Under the Employees' State Insurance Act 1948, there was launched a scheme on a pilot basis from July 1, 2018 Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana or ABVKY and as per it if the insured becomes jobless he or she is extended a relief as up to 25% of the average salary per day during the previous four contribution periods that shall be paid for a maximum of 3 months of unemployment once in the lifetime.

Scheme extended until June 30, 2021
Via the circular dated September 7, 2020, the scheme has been extended from July 2020 to June 2021. And from next year onwards, the scheme shall be made available as per the original eligibility criteria from January 1 to June 30, 2021.
So, for the period from March 24, 2020 to December 31, 2020, the relaxed eligibility conditions are:
1. The insured person for making the claim shall be in insurable job for a minimum of 2 years just preceding to his or her job loss and should have made contribution for no less than 78 days during the contribution period and minimum 78 days in in one of the remaining three contribution periods in two years prior to unemployment.
2. Claim will be due 30 days after unemployment date.
3. Relief of up to 50% of the average per day wage during the previous four contribution periods shall be payable for maximum 3 months of unemployment.
The claim can be made by the insured person online in the prescribed form to the branch office directly. And the payment shall be credited into 15 days from the receipt of the claim form. Further for the verification of insured person's the aadhaar identity shall be made use of.
The relaxation notably is only extended for insured persons who have lost job amid the pandemic i.e. for duration between March 23, 2020 and on or after January 1, 2021.
