LPG Gas Cylinder Booking New Rates: Amid 45-Days & 25-Days LPG Rules; Know Indane, BP, HP Gas Prices City-Wise
The government continues to prioritize LPG supplies to domestic consumers. It has assured uninterrupted availability of petroleum products and LPG in the context of the evolving situation in West Asia. However, LPG prices in India have witnessed a significant increase. But there's a catch! Since the US-Israel-Iran war, commercial LPG prices have increased four times, while domestic LPG prices have been hiked only once. Indian Oil marketing companies (OMCs) sell LPG cylinders under the brand names of Indane Gas, Bharat Gas and HP Gas.
LPG Gas Cylinder 14.2Kg Booking Rates On May 21:

On May 21st, there was no change in LPG prices. However, LPG is above Rs 1,000 per cylinder in some cities.
In Delhi, 14.2Kg LPG rate for booking stood at Rs 913 per cylinder, while in Mumbai, the price was at Rs 912.50 per cylinder. In Kolkata, LPG is higher at Rs 939 per cylinder, while in Chennai, LPG price stood at Rs 928.50.
The cheapest LPG is in Noida at Rs 910.50 per cylinder. In Gurgaon, LPG is priced at Rs 921.50 per cylinder. Under southern cities, LPG is available at Rs 915.50 per cylinder in Bengaluru, and at Rs 922 per cylinder in Thiruvananthapuram.
LPG is most expensive in Patna where the price is at Rs 1,002.50 per cylinder, followed by Hyderabad where the price is at Rs 965 per cylinder. In Lucknow as well, LPG is expensive at Rs 950.50 per cylinder.

So here's what you need to understand. There are three popularly used LPG cylinder sizes: 5 kg, 14.2 kg, and 19 kg. Currently, a 5 Kg gas cylinder is widely used by migrants, students and citizens who are renting but lack permanent residence.
Then come 14.2 Kg LPG cylinders, which are largely meant for domestic use and comprise almost 90% of all gas distributed, as per the Indian Oil website. Indian households use this cylinder type.
Following this are the 19 Kg LPG cylinders, which are meant for industrial and commercial consumption. Also, 47.5 kg and 425 kg Jumbo cylinders are used by industries for commercial purposes. These commercial consumptions include eateries, hotels, restaurants, malls, food stalls and small-scale industries, as they require high consumption for cooking and heating needs.
Since the US-Israel-Iran war, the only time the 14.2 kg LPG price was hiked was on May 7, 2026, by Rs 60 across cities. This was also the first hike since April 2025.
LPG Gas Cylinder Booking Rates For 19Kg Cylinders:
For May 2026, Indian Oil hiked LPG prices in 19Kg Cylinder to an extreme high. The biggest hike is in Kolkata city by Rs 1,147 from May 1, 2026. Meanwhile, the second sharp hike was announced in Mumbai by Rs 1,015.5, followed by a hike of Rs 1,013 in Chennai and Rs 993 in Delhi compared to April 2026.
After the hike in May 2026, 19Kg LPG price is at Rs 3,071.50 per cylinder in Delhi and Noida, while at Rs 3,024 in Mumbai, at Rs 3,092.50 per cylinder in Chandigarh and at RS 3,088 per cylinder in Gurgaon.
The commercial LPG is cheapest in Mumbai. But most expensive in cities like Patna, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Bengaluru.
On May 21, 19Kg LPG is available at Rs 3,346.50 per cylinder in Patna, at Rs 3,315 in Hyderabad, at Rs 3,237 in Chennai, at Rs 3,202 in Kolkata, at Rs 3,238 in Bhubaneswar, at Rs 3,194 in Lucknow and at Rs 3,152 in Bengaluru.

LPG Gas Cylinder Booking Rule Of 45-Days & 25 Days:
Among many measures, the government has revised the rules of booking gas cylinders by extending the lock-in periods for refill. And these are 45 days and 25 days, irrespective of LPG connection. So it means, even if you have a 14.2 kg cylinder connection or 5 kg cylinder connection, the lock-in period remains 25 days in urban areas and 45 days for rural consumers.
Earlier, the lock-in period was of 21-days before March 2026 for refilling LPGs.
