LPG Prices From March 1: Will 19Kg, 14.2Kg LPG Cylinder Prices Rise Or Fall Next Month? Find Out!

LPG Prices In India: Once again all focus will be on Indian oil marketing companies (OMCs) who will decide the LPG prices for 14.2Kg cylinders and 19Kg cylinders for March 2025. The new price change will come into effect from March 1. In the previous month, LPG prices of the biggest cylinder 19Kg were trimmed, while OMCs have kept 14.2 Kg cylinder prices unchanged since August 2024. In the third quarter of FY25, OMC's earnings were impacted due to LPG subsidy.

Will LPG Prices Rise Or Fall For March 2025?

As per the Yes Securities report, "The core performance of OMCs was in line with our expectations. OMCs showcased an improved financial result with a YoY/QoQ increase in EBITDA/ PAT, driven by a recovery in core GRMs however LPG subsidy impacted the reported performance."

Furthermore, Yes Securities note said, the Union Budget FY26 provided no relief in terms of easing the LPG subsidy burden for OMCs (IOCL, BPCL, HPCL), despite the mounting under-recovery of Rs143.23bn for IOCL, Rs72.3bn for BPCL and Rs76bn for HPCL as of 9MFY25. In the absence of this crucial financial support, OMCs will have to continue absorbing losses, further straining marketing margins and profitability.

It added, "Without a clear mechanism for LPG price adjustments or direct subsidy payments from the government, the cumulative under-recoveries could exceed Rs400bn for FY25, significantly impacting cash flows and dividend payouts for OMCs. The sustained impact could possibly trigger a decline in crude prices."

Hence, the revision in LPG prices will be keenly watched for March 2025.
