New 30-Day Gas Cylinder Rule For Indane, BharatGas, And HP Gas Users: Check How It Affects Your LPG Connection

The government has introduced a major new rule for households across India that hold both an LPG cylinder connection and a PNG connection.

New 30-Day Gas Cylinder Rule

Under the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Amendment Order, 2026, notified on May 25, households that obtain a PNG connection must surrender their LPG connection within 30 days.

What Is The New 30-Day Rule?

The new provision requires Indian households to stop their Indane Gas, HP Gas, and BharatGas connections within 30 days of obtaining a PNG connection. For example, if you get a PNG connection installed in your home on June 6,, you will have to terminate your LPG connection by July 6.

This also means customers cannot buy or refill LPG after PNG is installed in their kitchen.

The policy has been designed for customers of Indane, BharatGas, and HP Gas to reduce duplicate connections, for subsidies, and push cylinder supplies to rural and semi-urban areas which are currently lacking piped gas infrastructure and for customers who genuinely need LPG receive priority over households that have other options for cooking gas as a part of "One Household, One Gas Connection" model.

Relief Provision and Transfer Voucher

Customers who surrender their LPG connection can get a transfer voucher for future restoration of their LPG connection if they move to a non-PNG area.

OTP Now Mandatory For LPG Delivery

The government has made OTP-based LPG delivery mandatory. If you do not receive an OTP on your registered mobile number, you will not receive delivery of LPG.

LPG eKYC Deadline Arriving Soon

Indian Oil Corporation has issued a new advisory asking beneficiaries of the Ujjwala Yojana to complete their eKYC before June 30. If eKYC is not done, you may lose your Indane Gas, BharatGas, and HP Gas subsidy. Customers can complete eKYC through the IndianOil ONE app, their Indane distributor, or their LPG delivery personnel.
