The new GST rates have come into effect from September 22, 2025. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government has simplified goods and services tax reforms, giving deep cuts to GST rates ahead of Diwali, which will enable the common man to save big time. From footwear and cars to milk products, GST rates have come down sharply. Here is the full list of items under new GST rates and how the common man will benefit from it.
New GST Rates For Footwears and Leathers;
-GST rates are down to 5% from 12% on chamois leather, composition leather with a basis of leather or leather fibre, and leather prepared after tanning or crusting.
-Footwear up to Rs 2,500 per pair will now attract 5% GST rate, a big boost for young consumers.
New GST Rates For Woods"
Now, 5% GST will be applied on rice husk board, glassfibre reinforced gypsum board, cement bonded particle board, jute particle board, bagasse board, sisal fibre board, etc. Sheets for veneering, bamboo flooring, casks, barrels, vats, tubs of wood are also included. Earlier the rate was 12%.
