Kissan Vikas Patra, NSC Now In Electronic Mode; What To Do With Certificates?
Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP) and National Savings Certificate (NSC) are popular post office schemes which will now be issued in electronic form.
As of now, KVP certificates have denominations from Rs 1,000 to Rs 50,000. KVP can be purchased from any Departmental Post office or banks. The certificate can be encashed after 2 & 1/2 years from the date of issue.
National Savings Certificate (NSC) can be used as collateral security to get loan from banks. Investment up to Rs 1.5 lakh qualifies for income tax rebate under section 80C.
New serial number
Once the certificate is in electronic mode there will be new serial number which will not have spacing or hyphens anywhere.
Net banking
Individuals should activate their net banking facilities to avail this service.
Non CBS Branches
All non CBS Branches of Post Offices will issue only passbook mode of NSC and KVP.
Accounts
This option is available for those who have bank accounts or post office accounts.
Passbook mode and e-mode
Individual will have the option to choose from passbook mode and e-mode. However, one can change the mode at any point of time by requesting the same
Transfer of the KVP or NSC
At the time of transfer of the KVP or NSC from one person to another, it should be applied in concerned post office or bank. The person should submit the passbook and other required documents and fresh certificate will be issued to other person with his details.
Pre-printed NSC and KVP
If you have lost your pre-printed NSC and KVP, in such cases you can opt for passbook mode.
