SBI Alerts Customers On KYC Fraud: Asks Not To Do This

The country's leading state run lender State Bank of India (SBI) in a bid to safeguard its customers time and again comes up with some caution circulars and posts. Likewise, via its official twitter handle, the company on March 4, 2022 tweeted "Here is an example of #YehWrongNumberHai, KYC fraud. Such SMS can lead to a fraud, and you can lose your savings. Do not click on embedded links. Check for the correct short code of SBI on receiving an SMS. Stay alert and stay #SafeWithSBI."

Further in the infographic, the bank gave examples of fraudulent messages that one should ignore:

Dear Customers, Your SBI documents has been expired. Your bank account will be blocked in 24 hours. Please update your KYC, click on the link http://ibit.ly/oMwK

The bank further alerted its customers that it never asks its customers to update their KYC over links embedded in an SMS.

This link if clicked infact enables hackers to gain access to customers' bank account and then eventually rob them off their money.
