The major setback for the indices was due to rising crude oil prices and renewed Middle East tensions. Brent crude climbed nearly 4.6% through the week to trade close to $87 a barrel as the US-Iran talks are put on hold, keeping pressure on.
15 of 16 major sectors ended in the red; metals shed close to 1.9% and financials around 1% though midcap stocks gained.
Nifty Outlook: Range And Key Levels To Watch
"Nifty ended the week on a negative note, declining 0.83% reversing gains from the previous week. The index is currently hovering around its 21 day EMA, indicating near term weakness. However, the broader structure remains intact as the crucial 55-day EMA around 24,150-24,180 continues to provide support. As long as this level holds, the broader strategy remains buy on dips." said Ravi Singh, Chief Research Officer from Master Capital Services Ltd
"On the upside, 24,550 is the immediate hurdle, while a sustained breakout above this level could pave the way towards the key 24,800 zone. Overall, the medium-term trend remains cautiously positive." Ravi further added.
