6 Things To Note Before You Send Your Income Tax Copy (ITRV) To The IT authorities
The July 31 deadline is fast approaching and many of you may have already filed your income tax returns. You need to now dispatch a copy of the ITRV, which is the acknowledgement of the income tax returns filed, either by speed post or by ordinary post to the Central Processing Cell (CPC) of the IT authorities at Bengaluru. Here are few things you should note before you dispatch the ITRV.
Only ordinary or speed post
Remember, you cannot dispatch the ITRV by courier. It has to be either sent by ordinary post or speed post. Ensure that you send the same by speed post to make sure that it is received by the IT authorities.
IT Department must receive within 120 days of filing returns
The time limit for sending the ITRV copy is 120 days from the date of filing the returns. So make sure that you dispatch the same within the stipulated time frame.
It has to be blue ink
The document has to be signed in blue ink only. Do not forget to sign the copy and than dispatch the same.
Use standard A4 size paper
Make sure you use a standard A4 size paper and not any abnormal size paper. The print out should be clear for the Authorities to read.
If you have revised your returns
It's highly possible that you would have revised your income tax returns. Please ensure that when you do the same you use separate sheets for the ITRVs of the original and the revised copy.
Note the address
The address for dispatch is as follows: "Income Tax Department - CPC, Post Box No - 1, Electronic City Post Office, Bangalore - 560100, Karnataka".
