If one needs to make any changes or updation in the bank account number the taxpayer should provide the correct account number along with the MICR code where credit is to be effected to the Assessing Office.
The tax payer may need to contact its Assessing Officer and inform about the change in the correspondence address. Therefore, at times it's important to know who the Assessing Officer for your income tax returns is.

One can also check for other details like Assessing Officer, Area Code, AO Type, Range code, AO Number etc.
Here are a few steps to know your Assessing Officer
Step 1: Visit the Income Tax site
Step 2: Register if you are a new user
Step 3: Login with the help of your PAN card
Step 4: Under Services- click on Jurisdictions
You will get your jurisdiction details.
Delay in refund
You may have to contact your assessing officer in case there is no asessment done for your tax returns and there is an income tax refund. There are two modes of refund; one is ECS and another is paper.
If taxpayers who have opted for paper, the refund will be disbursed by cheque or demand draft. The refund instrument will be dispatched by speed post by CMP SBI at the postal address mentioned in the income return.
