Last date to file your Income Tax Return for the Assessment year 2015-16 is August 31, 2015. The easy steps are for those who are using ITR 1 and ITR 4S. Download and fill the ITR form and save the same in XML format.

You should have these documents or details before proceeding to file your returns.

  • Form 16
  • Other income details
  • All Bank account numbers
  • IFSC codes
  • Personal details

Here is a quick and simple steps to file you ITR quickly

  1. Log on to Income Tax Site with your PAN number, login and password
  2. On Left Side click on "Quick e-file ITR"
  3. Select the ITR for name
  4. Select Assessment Year
  5. Select the Prefill address from the options
  6. 1) Pan data base 2) Previous return filed 3) From New address
  7. Tick "No" if you do not have digital signature
  8. Click Submit

Note that the pre filled tax claim data is as per the details available in the e-filing application subject to assesses independent verification.

You will be directed to prefilled ITR form. However, one can make changes if necessary.

Complete the other fields like income details, tax details, section 80G deductions and the taxes paid.
Before submitting the button click on recalculate tax.

In the last section you have to give your bank account details. These details are very vital to receive refunds.

Note that in case of tax due, you have to first pay that tax and only then you can e-file successfully.

The website flashes the message about successful e-filing on your screen

Download the ITR-V (verification), or the acknowledgement form. In case you have linked your aadhar card, there is no need to send to send the ITR V. Otherwise, you can send the same to the following address.

Sign the print out and send to CPC Bangalore within 120 days of filing your return online.
