The tax filing season has begun and individuals are busy collecting information to file their tax returns. However, there is still time to meet the deadline of July 31, 2016, which will be the last day to file returns for assessment year 2016-17.
In case you have not linked your Aaadhar Card, you need to dispatch your ITRV form. Here are 10 things to keep in mind before you do the same.
Do not use dot matrix printer
It is important to note that you should print the ITRV form on a Ink Jet /Laser printer to print. Avoid printing on Dot Matrix printer. Also the ITR-V Form should be printed in black ink. Do not use any other ink option to print ITR V.
Print out should be legible
The print out has to be legible, so that the tax authorities know whose returns have been filed. Ensure that print out is clear and not light print/faded copy.
Do not print on water marks
You should not be orienting on the watermarks. The only permissible watermark is that of "Income tax Department" which is printed automatically on each ITR-V.
Sign in blue ink
The document that is mailed to CPC should be signed in original in BLUE INK. Photocopy of signatures will not be accepted. The signatures or any handwritten text should not be written on Bar code. Bar code and numbers below barcode should be clearly visible.
Use A4 Size paper only
Only A4 size white paper should be used. Avoid typing anything at the back of the paper. Perforated paper or any other size paper should be avoided. Do not use stapler on ITR V acknowledgement.
Do not print back to back
It is important to note that you should not submit prints outs that are back to back. It does not matter whether it is original or revised returns.
What if you have filed ITR returns for more than 1 individual?
You can send more than one ITR-V in the same envelope. This means you do not have to worry about posting it separately.
Last day for filing tax returns is July 31
Remember the last day for filing returns of income tax is July 31. So, avoid any last minute rush that may arise.
