Go home and check your tax returns once again

Many individuals forget to add simple things like bank interest on savings bank account to their total income.

Check and see that you have not missed important heads of income.

Remember, that you have time until July 31, 2016 to revise your tax returns. If you have omitted any item, it is better to show that in your tax returns, rather than filing incorrect details.

Check bank details and address are correct

These are important because you would get your tax refund on the above address or the bank account number specified.

In case they are correct, just ignore.

Post the ITR copy

Remember, your returns is not complete until you post your ITRV form to the central processing office in Bangalore.

The forms should be signed and cannot be sent by courier. If you have linked your Aadhar card, there is no need to send the ITR V form by post.

Check for e mail from the IT Department

In all probability you will get an email from the IT authorities informing you have filed your tax returns.

Keep checking your mail to know that they have received your returns, especially if the ITRV is posted

Just enter your assessment year and PAN card to know the tax refund status.
