What Is The Due Date For Filing ITR For Fy22- Can It Be Extended Further?

Though the government and the income tax department has been reminding taxpayers on the timely filing of the ITR for financial year 2022, there is a fraternity not able to accept or make up with the fact that they need to gear up and file their returns by July 31, 2022.

Also, Income tax department lately via its twitter handle mentioned that the taxpayers are facing some issues while accessing the site. Furthermore, as per the data only a less number of ITRs have so far been filed and its just 15-16 days more for the deadline.

On its twitter handle on July 2, the department said, "It has been noticed that taxpayers are facing issues in accessing ITD e-filing portal. As informed by @Infosys, they have observed some irregular traffic on the portal for which proactive measures are being taken. Some users may be inconvenienced, which is regretted".

So, likewise, some of the experts are anticipating that ITR deadline may be extended by a month or so. Nevertheless it is always best to not wait for the last minute and do the work hand at the earliest possible.

Also, there is a view by some other experts that as the ITR forms as well as Utilities have been released well in advance, the extension may not happen.
