What & When Is the Onam Bumper Draw
The Onam Bumper is one of six major bumper lotteries conducted annually by the Kerala State Lottery Department, alongside the Summer, Vishu, Monsoon, Pooja, and Christmas-New Year bumpers.
The draw date is usually near the Onam festival, which is Kerala's largest festival, and it is traditionally the most anticipated of the state's bumper draws because of the scale of celebrations around it.
The draw this year is scheduled for September 26 at 2 PM at Gorky Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram, which is the usual venue where all major state lottery draws are conducted.
For 2026, the Kerala State Lottery Department raised the first prize to Rs.30 crore, up from Rs.25 crore last year, making it the highest single-ticket lottery prize ever offered in India. Ticket sales for BR-111 began around mid-July 2026, priced at Rs.500 per ticket, unchanged from the previous edition. Tickets have been issued across ten series - TA, TB, TC, TD, TE, TG, TH, TJ, TK, and TL with up to 90 lakh tickets planned for distribution statewide through licensed lottery agents.
The prize structure for this year's draw is as follows:
1st Prize- Rs.30 Cr
2nd Prize- Rs.1 Cr each (20 winners)
3rd Prize- Rs.25 lakh each (20 winners)
4th Prize- Rs.5 lakh each
5th Prize- Rs.2 lakh each
Consolation Prize- Rs.5 lakh each (9 winners).
The total prize pool across all categories adds up to Rs.125.54 crore. As per the rules & traditions, the agent who sells the winning first-prize ticket also receives a separate agency prize, set at Rs.3 crore this year.
Is There a Possibility of Extending the Date
As of now, the Kerala State Lottery Department has made no announcement of any change to the September 26, 2026 draw date, and the schedule is officially confirmed.
However, last year's Onam Bumper draw was in fact postponed from its original date to October 4, 2025 after the GST rate on lottery tickets was raised to 40% and heavy rains disrupted ticket sales across the state.
For 2026, no such disruption has been reported so far, and ticket sales appear to be proceeding on schedule in the run-up to Onam.
