All in all you will be able to turn Rs. 4.5 lakh capital into Rs. 4.5 lakh deposited as principal amount in the MIS scheme which can be redeemed at maturity i.e. upon completion of 5 years plus 1.71 lakh rupees invested as principal amount in RD scheme and Rs. 35,000 drawn as interest on RD scheme with the post office.

So, in 5 years and 1 month's time, your Rs. 4.5 lakh will turn into a corpus of Rs. 6.56 lakhs.
