Equities were up for the second day in a row on the back of strong global cues. Nifty opened higher and were trading with gains of 154 points today. Broader markets were higher in-line with gains of 0.6%. Among sectors, except Auto and Financial Services, all ended in green with Oil & Gas, IT, Metals, Media and PSU Bank up between 1-2% each.
Markets gaining momentum
"Markets are finding support based buying and is gaining momentum in despite witnessing pressure at higher levels. Nifty opened soft but gained strength though out the day to close above 16,600 zone. Broader market continued to witness action for 3rd day in a row. Markets are likely to remain in a broader range as we continue to monitor global cues including geo-political developments, crude oil price movement as well as institutional flows," says Siddhartha Khemka, Head - Retail Research, Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd.
Here are some of the top losers from the NSE in trade today.
Raymond
Shares in Raymond dropped 7% in trade and were last seen trading at Rs 1180 on the NSE. "Nifty is expected to remain in a range while Bank nifty may outperform. Traders are advised to apply buy on decline strategy at the support zones. At current juncture, we are advising to be with selective stocks and one can look for buying opportunity in stocks like Reliance, Bajaj Finance, Voltas and HAL," says Chandan Taparia, Vice President, Equity Derivatives and Technical, Broking & Distribution, Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd.
Arshiya Ltd
Arshiya also lost 7% in trade and was last see trading at Rs 23.70 on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Hindustan National Glass
The stock was down 5% with only sellers in the counter. The shares were last trading at Rs 11.45.
Keerti Knowledge
This is another stock that hit the lower end of the circuit filter and was down 5% in trade today.
Oil Country Tubular
This is another stock that was down and dropped 4% in trade today. The stock was trading at Rs 8.30 on the NSE.
Godha Cabcon and Insulation
The shares of this company were also down almost 4%. The shares were last trading at Rs 4.40 in trade today.
Medico
Shares in Medico were down 5% and hit the lower end of the circuit filter in trade.
