Timothy Headington: Career Highlights

Headington founded Headington Oil in 1978, which is based in Oklahoma City and later moved to Dallas. He is the president and sole shareholder of Headington Resources, Inc., which focuses on oil and gas, real estate, film production, private equity, and entertainment. He is also an active philanthropist, both personally and through his family foundations.

In 2008, Headington gained significant attention when he sold acreage in North Dakota's Bakken oil play for $1.85 billion.

In the entertainment industry, Headington invested in GK Films with Graham King from 2007 to 2012. He formed production companies Tango Entertainment and Ley Line Entertainment and worked on projects such as "Hugo" (co-producer) and "World War Z" (executive producer). He also produced Angelina Jolie's directorial debut, "In the Land of Blood and Honey," which won the Stanley Kramer Award. Headington served as executive producer for Gore Verbinski's "Rango." Other notable productions he has been involved with include "The Young Victoria," "The Tourist," "Edge of Darkness," "The Rum Diary," and the TV miniseries "Camelot."

In real estate, Headington is recognized as a leader in revitalizing downtown Dallas. He developed The Joule, a boutique hotel in downtown Dallas, by transforming a historical building. He also completed the renovation of the former Republic National Bank building into the Drakestone, a 20-floor apartment building.

Headington is actively involved in philanthropy.

He co-founded the nonprofit Headington Institute, which supports first responders and caregivers who have experienced emotional trauma. He is also an active philanthropist, supporting arts, education, and health in his community.
