America First Refining: Trump Proposes a Texas Brownsville Refinery to Boost US Fuel Output

Donald Trump has outlined plans for a large Texas oil refinery in Brownsville. Trump said the America First Refining project would lift US fuel output. Trump also linked the plan to stronger energy security. The project could be the first major US refinery built in nearly 50 years.

In a social media post, Trump called the refinery a "historic investment". Trump said the build would add refining capacity and create thousands of jobs. Reports also said Reliance Industries was interested in the project. That interest pointed to rising cross-border investment in energy assets.

The Texas oil refinery would process shale oil from the United States. The output would include jet fuel, diesel and petrol. Trump said the site would only use crude produced in the United States. The facility was reported to handle about 60 million barrels per year.

America First Refining: Texas Refinery Plan

New US refineries have been rare for decades. Environmental rules, high costs, and cleaner energy shifts limited new builds. If it moved ahead, the Texas oil refinery could be a major change. Analysts noted that the sector has seen few large, new projects in recent years.

Trump said the project could be worth up to $300 billion. Analysts said the full basis for that figure was unclear. The plan was tied to Element Fuels Holdings, a Texas energy firm. Element aimed to supply fuels in the United States and export globally, if completed.
