Apollo Micro Systems Limited Acquires IDL Explosives Limited to Strengthen Defence Manufacturing in India

Apollo Micro Systems Limited (AMS) has announced the successful acquisition of IDL Explosives Limited by its subsidiary, Apollo Defence Industries Private Limited. This acquisition follows the transfer of shares from GOCL Corporation Limited, the parent company of IDL Explosives. The transaction was initially proposed on May 2, 2025, and with its completion, IDL Explosives becomes a step-down subsidiary of AMS.

Under the Apollo Group's leadership, IDL Explosives Limited is set to embark on a transformative journey. The company has a longstanding presence in India's mining and industrial sectors. This acquisition aligns with India's Atmanirbhar defense initiative, aiming to bolster self-reliance in defense manufacturing. The move signifies a strategic shift for Apollo Micro Systems Limited as it evolves into a comprehensive defense platform provider.

Apollo Group plans to enhance its capabilities in the defense sector through this acquisition. By integrating next-generation explosives, propellants, and warhead systems with its expertise in Weapon System Electronics, the group aims to strengthen its position in the industry. This strategic consolidation is expected to commence in Q3 FY2026, marking a significant milestone for Apollo Group's growth strategy.

IDL Explosives Limited operates production facilities in Rourkela and other locations. The Apollo Group intends to develop and reinforce these operations to align with its strategic objectives in the rapidly growing Defense Explosive Sector. This acquisition is seen as a crucial step towards achieving these goals.
