Bitcoin Dips Under USD 65,000 as Tariffs and Risk-Off Sentiment Take Hold

Bitcoin slipped below $65,000 as selling hit the crypto market. Pressure rose after President Trump announced higher US tariffs. The move followed a US Supreme Court decision that struck down earlier tariffs. Traders shifted to a risk-off stance across assets. The total crypto market value fell under $2.24 trillion, as fear stayed high.

Bitcoin was trading at $65,995.59 during the session. The coin fell 2.96% in 24 hours and 4.22% in seven days. Over 30 days, Bitcoin dropped 25.98%. Recent losses were near 5%, taking the year-to-date fall beyond 20%. Bitcoin’s market capitalisation stood at $1.32 trillion.

"According to Glassnode, whales increased their total balance by roughly 230,000 BTC over three months, valued at $15.59 billion. For now, BTC might test the $60,000 levels before a rebound. Immediate resistance stands at $68,500." said Akshat Siddhant, Lead quant analyst at Mudrex.

"With the monthly close on the horizon, Bitcoin may break its 7-year streak by ending the trade on a bearish note. On the other hand, Ethereum is also experiencing 3rd worst Q1s ever, with 5 weeks remaining. According to the on-chain data, large BTC whales have been dominating the exchange inflows, which have reached 64%, which never happened in the past 11 years." as per CoinDCX Research

Ethereum traded at $1,887.48 after a 4.48% drop in 24 hours. Over the week, ETH fell 5.58%. The 30-day slide reached 36.04%. Other large tokens also weakened. XRP fell to $1.38 and BNB slipped to $599.95. Solana dropped to $79.65, amid heavy profit booking.

Bitcoin price outlook and crypto market sentiment

The wider mood stayed cautious as losses deepened in major coins. Traders watched for signs of fresh institutional buying at lower prices. "Despite the near term pressure, the broader structure of the crypto market remains intact. Periods like these typically flush out leveraged positions and speculative excess, creating a healthier base for the next phase of growth. Bitcoin continues to behave as a macro sensitive asset in the short run, but its long term adoption drivers such as institutional participation and ecosystem expansion remain firmly in place." said Avinash Shekhar, Co-Founder and CEO, Pi42

"Investors should avoid reacting impulsively to headline driven swings. A disciplined approach such as staggered accumulation, maintaining adequate liquidity, and focusing on fundamentally strong assets can help navigate the current phase. Those with a long term horizon may view corrections as opportunities to build exposure gradually rather than attempting to time short term moves." he further added.

Bitcoin’s slide under $65,000 came as tariff news and legal changes unsettled risk assets. With Bitcoin near $66,000 and Ethereum below $1,900, the market remained under pressure. Analysts flagged whale activity, key support near $60,000, and resistance around $68,500. For now, traders monitored flows and sentiment as volatility stayed elevated.
