Certain services, such as tax filing, now require that your PAN card be linked to Aadhaar. The government has mandated that all citizens link their PAN to Aadhaar. According to the most recent public advisory, the PAN will become inactive if it is not linked to Aadhaar by March 31, 2023. After the deadline, PAN holders will be unable to use their ten-digit unique alphanumeric number, and financial transactions linked to their PAN will be halted.
The deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar has been pushed back from March 31, 2022 to March 31, 2023 by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). However, people must pay a fee of Rs 1000 to begin the linking process. If people do not link their PAN to Aadhaar by March 31, 2023, their PAN number will be deactivated, according to the IT department's advisory.
If you have already linked your PAN to your Aadhaar, you can check the status both online and offline.
