Adding more joy to the festive season, the Delhi government, led by CM Rekha Gupt, has approved a free LPG cylinder scheme for Holi 2026, fulfilling one of the major election promises. Under the Delhi Free Cylinder Scheme 2026, eligible ration card holders will receive the benefit through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) directly into their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.

Delhi Free LPG Cylinder Scheme 2026: What Is The Benefit?
Under the newly approved scheme One free LPG cylinder worth Rs 853 will be provided twice a year on Holi and Diwali. The benefit will be transferred via DBT to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts The first installment for Holi 2026 will be credited on or before March 4, 2026. The scheme covers all Delhi ration card holders, including PNG users.
Importantly, the government has clarified that the money can be credited anytime before Holi.
Budget Allocation & Coverage
The Delhi government has reportedly allocated between Rs 242 crore and Rs 300 crore for the free cylinder scheme in the 2026 budget.
The Beneficiaries for this scheme is Universal for all Delhi ration card families and no separate application required.
The scheme is inline with the Centre's Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, which focuses on providing affordable LPG connections to poor households. However, the Delhi government's initiative is an extra festive relief to a large base of ration card holders in the capital.
How To Check Delhi Ration Card Eligibility Online
To receive the Delhi free LPG cylinder DBT, you must have a valid Delhi ration card linked to Aadhaar and an active bank account.
You can check your Delhi ration card eligibility or confirm if your card is active through the official Delhi Food & Supplies Department portal.
Steps To Check Ration Card Status:
Step 1: Visit the official website: nfs.delhigovt.nic.in
Step 2: Go to Citizens' Corner, then click on View Your Ration Card Details
Step 3: Enter any one of the following:
- Aadhaar number of any family member
- NFS application ID
- New ration card number
- Old ration card number
Step 4: Enter the captcha and click Search. If eligible, your ration card details will appear on the screen.
