Registration form

You need to fill up a subscriber registration form to open an NPS account. You can also get the form from NSDL website. Fill in details like your name, address, bank account number, choice of pension fund manager and asset allocation.

KYC documents

It is mandatory to submit all KYC documents and make a contribution. The KYC documents are not needed if you are opening the NPS account through your bank.

Contribution and fee

The minimum contribution for opening an NPS account is Rs 500, and you need to invest at least Rs 6,000 every year. The account opening bank will charge registration charge for getting it done. The one-time charge is Rs 125.


Once you are done with your contribution, a permanent retirement account number will be generated and sent to you. This is known as PRAN and this the unique portable number remains with the applicant under NPS.

Manage account online
