Linking Aadhaar to PPF: Things To Know
Unique Identity Number (UID) or Aadhaar, the 12-digit number issued by the UIDAI, is now a must for putting your money in any of PPF schemes.
The government wants to bring everything under one single roof and make things simple, and just a click away so that they are making the 12 digit Aadhaar number mandatory for all things. As per latest amendments, it has made it mandatory to link the Aadhar Number with the PPF Account.

"Provided that where Aadhaar number has not been assigned, the depositor shall submit proof of application of enrolment for Aadhaar," said the notification dated September 29. Existing depositors who have not provided Aadhaar number at the time of application for such deposit "shall submit his Aadhaar number to the post office savings bank or deposit office concerned, on or before December 31, 2017", it added. The existing PPF depositors can update their Aadhaar number till December. People with Aadhaar card are required to produce the Aadhaar card while opening PPF. Aadhaar-mobile-bank account linking
The government made it compulsory to link Aadhaar issued by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to the mobile number and bank accounts also. Now many telecom operators including Airtel, Idea, and Vodafone have been sending messages to its customers for linking their Aadhaar with the phone number.
