Don't Forget To Link Aadhaar To These 5 Services Before December 31

12 digit unique identification number launched by UIDAI has been made necessary for a host of financial services now. Aadhaar must be linked to your bank accounts, mobile numbers and should be updated to avail pension, scholarship and LPG connection, etc.

From bank accounts to mobile numbers to a host of financial services the mandatory linking of Aadhaar is fast approaching.

Bank Account

As of now the deadline for the last date to link bank accounts to customers Aadhaar number is December 31, 2017. Now the Bank Aadhaar Kendras are being set up to make the Aadhaar verification process of bank accounts easy. More Aadhaar centers are set up across India to cater the enrolment and update requirements of people. Both private and public banks are giving options to customers for linking the bank account with Aadhaar via Internet, SMS or mobile banking facilities. UIDAI has directed 43 private and public sector banks to set up Aadhaar enrolment and updation centres across 15,315 branches.

Mutual funds

According to the government notification, all mutual fund folios must be seeded with Aadhaar number before December 31, this year. Failure of this will lead to freezing of folios. Mutual fund investors can contact individual AMCs (Asset Management Companies) or RTAs (registrar and transfer agents) for updating their Aadhaar with MF. Many reputed mutual funds houses have launched online KYC for their investors to do the same.

Social Schemes

The last date for obtaining Aadhaar to availing schemes launched by both central and state government is December 31. Schemes including the free cooking gas (LPG) to poor women, kerosene and fertilizer subsidy, targeted public distribution system (PDS), food grain supply and MGNREGA are included.

PAN

The deadline for linking PAN with 12 digit Aadhaar card number is December 31. For Aadhaar-PAN seeding, all tax payers have to first register on the Income-tax e-Filing portal.

Investment schemes

Aadhaar is mandatory for all savings schemes including post office deposits, PPF, the National Savings Certificate scheme and Kisan Vikas Patra now. Existing depositors of these investment schemes have been given time till December 31, 2017, to do the linking. Reminder: Know These Five Aadhaar Linking Deadline
