Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)
CNG, one of the fuel forms available in today’s markets has its own merits and demerits. Being one of the most feasible forms of alternative fuel other than petrol and diesel, many people are preferring CNG for their vehicles. A host of reasons like affordability, easy maintenance, high mileage, availability of CNG pumps and so on have made compressed natural gas one of the preferred forms of fuels in today’s developing world.
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) was introduced in April 2001 in India, as the public transport in Delhi was amended by the Supreme Court of India to use CNG in the place of petrol and diesel. The alarming rate of air pollution in the country’s capital was the main reason to switch to eco-friendly CNG fuel used in most public vehicles.
What are the Pros of Buying a CNG-run vehicle?
The following is the list of Pros of purchasing a CNG-fitted vehicle:
Eco-Friendly
CNG is an eco-friendly gas as it emits less harmful pollutants. Compressed natural gas emits fewer greenhouse gas on burning hence it becomes a greener choice for the environment. Compared with petrol and diesel, this environmentally friendly fuel emits almost 90 per cent fewer pollutants.
Pocket Friendly
CNG cars are affordable and pocket friendly when compared to hybrids, petrol and diesel-run engines. The cost of CNG-fitted vehicles will be generally Rs 80,000 – Rs 90,000 more for the factory-fitted CNG kit options.
