Sensex Opens Higher; Tech Stocks Continue To Gain

Benchmark indices opened the day higher led by gains in IT stocks with Infosys, Tech Mahindra and TCS among the early gainers in trade.

The Sensex was trading higher by 71 points, while the Nifty was up 15 points. Strong cues from across Asia pushed benchmark indices higher.

Apart from IT stocks other shares that gained ground were BPCL and Larsen. Select banking stocks had a weakish session in trade with Axis Bank, Yes Bank and Kotak Bank among the losers. Mind Tree was trading higher after the company reported a good set of Q1 numbers.

Shares in Lupin were trading higher after the company got an approval for diabetes drug.

MAN Industries also saw its share price rise after Q1 profits at the company jumped. Mid cap stocks were also having a good session in trade with notable gainers being Shree Cement and BEL.

Meanwhile, markets across Asia were trading with gains with the Japanese Nikkei once again seeing smart gains. Other notable gainers were the Shanghai Composite and the Singapore Strait Times.
