Shares in Emami surged as much as six per cent after a solid rally on Wednesday as FTSE upgraded the shares to the midcap segment of the FTSE global equity index series. The stock was last trading at Rs 1255 on the National Stock Exchange.
Emami is one of the leading FMCG players in the country with brands like Navratna, Boroplus and Fair and Handsome among others.
FMCG stocks have been the darling of the markets for sometime now and command heavy price to earnings multiples. Most of the brokerages currently have a buy call in the shares of Emami.
