NHPC, a leading hydropower corporation and a 'Mini Ratna' Category-I Enterprise, gave the Indian government a final dividend of Rs. 249.44 crore for the fiscal year 2020-21.
In the presence of Alok Kumar, Secretary (Power), and SKG Rahate, Additional Secretary, AK Singh, CMD, NHPC presented RK Singh, Union Minister of Power and New and Renewable Energy, with the payment intimation advice on October 26 in New Delhi (Power).

The Company's Board of Directors suggested a final dividend of Rs. 0.35 per equity share, or 3.50 percent of the face value, for the fiscal year 2020-21, which was adopted at the Annual General Meeting on September 29,2021.
Furthermore, on March 5, 2021, an interim dividend of Rs. 1.25 per Equity share, or 12.50 percent of the face value, was given. For the fiscal year 2020-21, a total dividend of Rs. 1.60/- per share was given. NHPC now has around seven lakh shareholders, with a total dividend pay-out of Rs. 1607.21 crore for FY 2020-21, including interim dividend, compared to Rs. 1506.76 crore for FY 2019.20.
According to the Department of Investment & Public Asset Management (DIPAM) Guidelines on Capital Restructuring of CPSEs of May 27, 2016, each CPSU must pay a minimum yearly dividend of 30 percent of PAT or 5% of net worth, whichever is larger. According to the aforementioned norms, NHPC paid a total dividend of Rs. 1607.21 crore, or 5.08 percent of net worth and 49.71 percent of PAT for the fiscal year 2020-21.
In the fiscal year 2020-21, NHPC made a net profit of Rs. 3233.37 crore, compared to Rs. 3007.17 crore the previous year. The stock returned 33.61 percent over three years, compared to 92.25 percent for the Nifty Midcap 100.
