Gold Prices Jump In India, Aug 12: 24K/100 Grams Yellow Metal Soars By Rs 2700, Silver Prices Down

Gold prices in India witnessed rally on Monday as traders are looking forward to crucial inflation results that may throw more light on US Federal Reserve's upcoming policy move. 22k gold prices in India today surged by Rs 250 to Rs 64,700/10 grams and 100 grams of 22 carat yellow metal prices today soared by Rs 2500 to Rs 6,47,000. 24K gold prices today rallied by Rs 270 to Rs 70,580/10 grams in India on August 12 and 100 grams of 24 carat precious metal prices turned dearer by Rs 2700 to Rs 7,05, 800. Meanwhile, 18k gold prices today in the country rose by Rs 210 to Rs 52,940/10 grams and 100 grams of 18 carat gold price today surged by Rs 2100 to Rs 5,29,400.

Spot Gold, Spot Silver Prices Today: Spot gold slipped 0.13% to $2,427.86 per ounce by 0352 GMT, trading in a narrow $10 price range. U.S. gold futures fell 0.3% to $2,466.40. Among other metals, spot silver declined by 0.3% to $27.36 per ounce, platinum slipped 0.47% to $917.83 and palladium dived 0.2% to $903.48, according to Reuters.

As per the Reuters report, "Further inflation progress reflected in the upcoming CPI data could see gold eye for a retest of its all-time high once more," said IG market strategist Yeap Jun Rong. The U.S. consumer price index (CPI) data, due on Wednesday, is expected to show that headline and core prices rose 0.2% month-on-month.

Fed Governor Michelle Bowman softened her usually hawkish tone ever so slightly on Saturday, noting some further "welcome" progress on inflation even as she said inflation remains "uncomfortably above" the central bank's 2% goal, added the Reuters report.

Silver Prices Today In India: Silver price in India today witnessed marginal fall. 1kg silver prices today fell by Rs 100 to Rs 83,000. And, 100 grams silver price today declined by Rs 10 to Rs 8,300.
