On the seventh day of its ongoing crisis, IndiGo is still struggling to tackle the flight cancellations, with nearly 400 flights reportedly cancelled again today across major Indian airports.
The disruption has brought about some massive financial shocks for the airline, wiping out nearly $4.3 billion in market capitalisation for InterGlobe Aviation over the past week.
Meanwhile, regulatory pressure has intensified as the DGCA's show-cause deadline for IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers expires at 6 pm today. The authorities have demanded a detailed explanation for IndiGo's failure to maintain reliable operations during severe crew shortages
About IndiGO Crisis:
IndiGo, India's largest low-cost airline, is currently hit by one of its worst operational crises in recent years, which has led to thousands of Indigo flight cancellations and severe delays across major airports, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. What began early this week as routine schedule pressure has snowballed into a nationwide disruption because of the airline's struggle to deploy pilots under the newly enforced Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) rules, which cap the working hours of flight and cabin crew. As a result, IndiGo has been cancelling over 2,000 flights daily since last week.
Because of this, passengers are facing long queues, rising last-minute airfares, and a lot of inconvenience. Follow this LIVE blog for the latest updates, cancellations, delays, passenger advisories, DGCA actions, refund status, and all developments from airports across India.
