Sensex Hits Record High; Infosys Surges Post Q3 Numbers
Benhmark indices opened the day higher in trade, even as Asian markets were trading mixed. The Sensex hit another record high of 41,862 points, breaching its previous record of 41,809 points hit last week.
The benchmark index was last trading 266 points higher at 41,862 points, while the Nifty was up 71 points in trade.
Shares in Yes Bank fell almost 4 per cent, after the resignation of one of the directors. Also, the board meeting rejected the capital infusion Erwin Singh Braich/SPGP Holdings.
Infosys was the star in trade today jumping almost 3 per cent in trade today. The company reported a spectacular set of quarterly results and also upped its revenue guidance.
Infosys, IndusInd Bank and Tata Steel were the top gainers from the Nifty. Other heavyweights, apart from Infosys that contributed to gains were Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank and HDFC. GAIL was leading the set of gainers, apart from Infosys.
Meanwhile, the rupee opened at 70.79 versus its previous close of 70.94 per US dollar.
