Silver Rates In India Today (19.10.2026) Unchanged For 4th Day In Row: Why Silver Prices Are Under Pressure?

Silver prices in India are unchanged on October 19, 2026, marking their fourth consecutive pause and underperforming compared to gold prices. On Monday, both the MCX silver price and spot silver surged by 0.5-1% due to a decline in crude oil prices and dovish remarks from US Federal Reserve's chair Kevin Warsh. The market is now predicting the the Fed to keep rates unchanged in next week's policy. Despite the bullish trend in the broader market, physical silver prices were unfazed.

Silver Rates In India Today:

Silver prices in India are unchanged for the fourth consecutive day. Accordingly, 1 gram of silver is available at Rs 230, while the 8-gram and 10-gram silver rates stood at Rs 1,840 and Rs 2,300 ahead of the Dussehra festival. Moreover, the 100-gram silver is priced at Rs 23,000 and the 999-purity or 1Kg silver is available at Rs 230,000.

Silver prices are down by more than 2.1% in October so far.

"Silver underperformed, falling to around $57-58 an ounce, a decline of around 6%. The gold-silver ratio has widened to around 72. Silver's weakness reflects its sensitivity to higher yields and a softer risk and growth backdrop," said Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money.

MCX Silver Price + Spot Silver Price

The physical silver rates remain unchanged despite a surge in both MCX silver and spot silver. MCX silver price zoomed by 0.5% to trade around Rs 2,12,128 per 1Kg, at the time of writing. While spot silver surged by 1.3% to trade closer towards $58 mark.

"Silver gained 0.9% to $57.54. These gains offer an encouraging external signal for India, although the domestic starting point remains Friday's MCX close: ₹1,48,000 per 10 grams for December gold and Rs 2,11,418 per kg for December silver. Those figures should be kept separate from Monday's opening trades," said Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.com.

He further added, silver requires particular care with position size. Friday's high-to-low range was Rs 3,290 per kg, approximately 1.56% of the preceding close. Gold's equivalent range was about 0.89%. That difference becomes consequential when leverage magnifies the loss.

However, Ponmudi believes that elevated crude prices, India's widening trade deficit and persistent foreign capital flow concerns remained underlying risks. The stronger rupee could limit gains in MCX gold and silver by reducing the domestic currency cost of imported bullion, even when international prices find support.

On the global front, the Fed has since entered its blackout period ahead of the October 27-28 policy meeting, with markets pricing in an approximately 84% probability of rates remaining unchanged. Precious metals also benefited from safe-haven demand as growing concerns over AI-related investments triggered an equity selloff and pushed bond yields lower. Meanwhile, escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and Eastern Europe kept oil prices elevated, while violent protests in France and other European countries added to broader market uncertainty, as per Trading Economics.
