UIDAI Unveils Direct Link To Check Aadhaar-Bank Linking Status, Details Inside

According to the official website of UIDAI, if you want to receive any benefit or subsidy under any scheme notified under section 7 of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016 (18 of 2016), you must provide your Aadhaar number to the banking service provider, according to the Prevention of Money Laundering (Maintenance of Records) Third Amendment Rules, 2019. In addition, having an Aadhaar card linked to a bank account is beneficial since it serves as a legitimate KYC (Know Your Customer) document while opening a bank account.

To avoid any unwanted interruptions related to your bank account it is, nevertheless, necessary to determine whether your Aadhaar is linked to the respective bank account or not. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has declared that Aadhaar cardholders can verify their Aadhaar bank account link online by entering in at the direct website - resident.uidai.gov.in/bank-mapper. However, to make use of this benefit, an Aadhaar Card bearer must have his or her mobile number linked to the Aadhaar number. From its official Twitter handle, the UIDAI announced about the Aadhaar bank link status check online. It stated that "Do you want to check your Aadhaar Bank Linking Status? You can do it online if your mobile number is linked with your Aadhaar. Check your Aadhaar Bank Linking Status by clicking on this link."

Steps to check Aadhaar card-bank link status using the direct link of UIDAI

Here's how to check Aadhaar bank linking status online:

  • Visit https://resident.uidai.gov.in/bank-mapper and enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number.
  • Now enter the security code and click on 'Send OTP'
  • You will now get an OTP on your Aadhaar-registered mobile number which you need to verify.
  • Now click on the 'Enter OTP' option' and enter the received OTP.
  • Click on 'Submit' and then the status of your Aadhaar bank account link will appear on your device screen.

In a recent notification to employers, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has also made Aadhaar seeding mandatory for all EPF accounts from today i.e. June 1, 2021. Employers' contributions to the EPF account would be terminated if they did not comply since they would be prohibited to complete Electronic Challan cum Return (ECR) for EPF accounts that are not linked with Aadhaar.
