US Midterm Elections 2026 LIVE: Trump Vows To Veto if Democrats Win Congress; Americans Casts Early Votes

The voting for US midterm elections will begin in the early hours of November 3, 2026, with Democrats and Republicans in an intense face-off to gain control of the Congress house. In his last midterm election speech, US President Donald Trump has vowed to become "Mr Veto" if the blue team, Democrats, wins the election and gains control. Currently, the Democrats need at least four seats to overtake the Congress with a majority. A 50-50 tie would lead the Republicans to hold the reins.

At present, in the house, Republicans hold a 218-214 edge with two vacancies and one independent candidate who caucuses with them. They hold a majority of 53 seats out of 100 in Congress, while the remaining 47 is held by Democrats.

The current poll suggests that Democrats could win the election with an 8-point advantage. The polls indicate Democrats to lead the House with 52% dominance.

Notably, early votes have continued for weeks for the US midterm. Over 57 million ballots have been cast in early votes, as per the data from the University of Florida Election Lab. The result will be announced on Wednesday morning at Indian standard time.

The US midterm election is pivotal for Trump, who has waged war in the Middle East and orchestrated a global trade tariff tension, impacting economics around the world. A victory of Democrats could limit that access for Trump in passing legislation bills. In his party, the Republican victory, Trump will have a greater score in his legislative agendas.

Hence, the US midterm elections are crucial for both Trump, Wall Street and Americans.
