Ahead of Republic Day, Bomb Threats Put Schools in Noida and Ahmedabad on High Alert

Bomb threat emails triggered evacuations at schools in Noida and Ahmedabad on Friday, 23 January 2026. The alerts came three days before Republic Day on 26 January 2026. Students were moved out of classrooms, buildings were checked, and classes were suspended while police and bomb squads examined the campuses.

In Noida, Shiv Nadar School and Cambridge School both shut for the day after receiving the threat emails. Students were sent home using school buses and from fixed drop-off points. The Noida Police stated that the situation at both campuses was under control, while a cyber team began examining the source of the messages.

The principal of Shiv Nadar School informed families through an official mail about the alert. The message stated, "We have received an email with a Bomb threat this morning and as a precautionary measure...the school will remain closed today." Cambridge School’s principal also emailed parents, asking them to pick up children from designated locations and wait for further verified updates.

Ahmedabad schools and wider probe into bomb threat emails

Several private schools in Ahmedabad, including Xavier's and St. Kabir, reported similar bomb threat emails on the same day. Their administrations contacted the police without delay. Bomb squads, fire brigades and other security personnel were deployed. Ahmedabad's crime branch bomb squad and forensic department launched a forensic investigation to analyse the emails and examine school premises.
