In an interview with ETimes, Kirti once spoke about her separation and revealed that she'd tried everything to save her marriage, but she couldn't. "I tried a lot, I have never tried so much. I tried because I wanted to give it everything I had. When all that failed, then I had to let go, (sic)" she was quoted as saying.

Revealing the 'simple' reason behind her separation, she added, "There's a lot I've learned and Sahil will always have a big role, he has played a big role in who I am, where I am today. The decision to not do this anymore together was based on very simple fact. It's not bringing me the peace and happiness that anything in life should. (sic)"
