Kamaal R Khan Arrested By Mumbai Cops: Who Is KRK?

Controversial film critic Kamaal R Khan was arrested on Saturday morning after questioning in connection with an incident of firing in Oshiwara area of Mumbai.

"He will be produced before Court today, Police will take him into custody and carry out further investigation," ANI quoted Mumbai Police in a tweet.

The investigation began on January 18 after two bullets were recovered from Nalanda Society. The projectiles struck the second and fourth floors of the building-specifically the residences of a local model and a writer-director, according to a report in NDTV.

While initial CCTV footage provided no leads, a task force of 18 officers and forensic experts successfully traced the ballistic trajectory back to Khan's nearby bungalow.Under questioning by the Oshiwara police and the Crime Branch, Khan admitted to discharging the weapon but denied any criminal intent.

Khan claims the shots were fired while he was cleaning and testing the functionality of his licensed gun. He stated he aimed toward a dense mangrove forest, assuming the bullets would be safely lost in the vegetation.

Who Is KRK?

KRK remains a controversial name in Bollywood as he is known for making explosive social media claims.

The self-proclaimed film critic first entered the industry as actor-producer with the 2005 flop Sitam, followed by his movie Deshdrohi in 2008.

KRK's big break came via Bigg Boss Season 3 in 2009, where he was evicted for hurling a bottle at a contestant amid claims of a lavish Dubai lifestyle. Subsequent films like Ek Villain (2014) bombed, pushing him toward Twitter rants and YouTube reviews that built a massive following but endless enemies.

In 2016, actor Ajay Devgn had accused KRK of bad mouthing his Shivaay after taking money from Karan Johar.

Khan was arrested in 2022 for allegedly posting derogatory tweets in 2020 on the movie Laxmii starring Akshay Kumar.
