A Dwarka SUV crash involving a 16-year-old driver and the vehicle owner’s father prompts calls for tougher charges and potential adult trial. Officials confirm age, legal proceedings under the Juvenile Justice Act, and ongoing investigations into vehicle ownership and accountability.
The mother of 20-year-old biker Sahil Dhaneshra is planning to move court after the Dwarka SUV crash, demanding that the 16-year-old driver be tried as an adult and that stronger charges be brought against the teenager’s father, who owned the vehicle involved in the accident.

The collision took place at 11.57 am on 3 February, near Lal Bahadur Shastri College in Dwarka, when a Scorpio driven by the teenager, with the teenager’s sister as co-passenger, allegedly hit Sahil’s sports bike head-on and then rammed a cab, killing Sahil and injuring the taxi driver.
Accused's Father Breaks Silence:
The accused minor's father expressed regret over the fatal crash, saying he would cooperate fully with the legal process. "This is my son's mistake and I apologise for it. I will follow whatever the law requires," he said, adding that both his son and daughter were in the vehicle at the time of the incident. He stated that he runs a commercial vehicle business and the SUV involved is part of the company's fleet, with previous challans linked to drivers, not his son. Calling the incident "heartbreaking," he said the entire family is deeply disturbed and grieving for both families. He also claimed he was unaware that his daughter was recording a video at the time and maintained that the family has provided all documents sought by police and is cooperating with the investigation.
Dwarka SUV crash investigation and action against minor
The teenager initially told police that the age was 19, but official documents later showed the driver was 16, with a birth certificate recording a date of birth of 2 August 2009, which made the teenager ineligible for a driving licence and brought the case under the Juvenile Justice Act.
After police verified the age, the teenager was detained and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, which granted interim bail because of ongoing Class 10 board examinations, while officers also registered an FIR against the father, who was not in Delhi when the accident happened, according to the father’s statement.
Dwarka SUV crash video, injuries and mother’s account
The incident was recorded on camera because the teenager’s sister was filming an Instagram reel, and the video, according to police, showed the Scorpio speeding along a two-lane road without a divider, narrowly avoiding a bus before smashing into Sahil’s motorcycle and then colliding with the cab.
The postmortem report listed critical injuries for Sahil, including a skull fracture and brain oedema, while mother Inna Makan described seeing the aftermath, saying, "My son was lying on the road. His sports bike was in three parts, and his jacket was shredded," she said. "An ambulance was there, but he was not taken to the hospital. After I screamed, Sahil was picked up by his legs and hands, without any support to the neck, and taken to the hospital," she added.
The teenager’s father later spoke publicly, saying that he felt "sorry" and "regretful" about the crash, but Makan has insisted the existing FIR is not enough and plans to ask the court to add tougher sections against both the minor and the father, seeking accountability for what happened to Sahil.
