1. Indane Gas, HP Gas, Bharat Gas Price Changes From August 1
Oil marketing companies will revise their LPG prices with effect from August 1, 2026, which is one of the biggest changes to expect next month. Indian Oil, HPCL, and BPCL revise prices of 5 kg, 10 Kg, 14.2 Kg and 19 Kg LPG cylinders on the first of every month. They can either hike, cut, or keep the LPG rates unchanged.
However, the likelihood of a hike in LPG prices for August 2026 is high due to elevated crude oil prices. As per Trading Economics, crude oil prices climbed by 40% in July so far, as supply disruptions expanded from the Strait of Hormuz to the Red Sea, an increasingly important alternative route for Saudi Arabian crude exports that transports millions of barrels each day.
For July 2026, a major relief was seen in 19 Kg LPG prices which was cut by Rs 173 to Rs 183.50 per cylinder across cities. This was the first monthly cut in commercial LPG cylinders in 2026. Accordingly, 19 Kg LPG rate stood at Rs 2,930 per cylinder in Delhi, at Rs 2885.50 per cylinder in Mumbai, at Rs 3,106 in Chennai, and at Rs 3,081.50 in Kolkata.
On the other hand, the 14.2 Kg LPG prices are unchanged across the cities for July 2026. Accordingly, the 14.2 Kg LPG price stood at Rs 942 in Delhi, at Rs 968 in Kolkata, at Rs 941.50 in Mumbai and at Rs 957.50 in Chennai.
2. e-KYC Important For LPG Cylinders
OMCs and the government has pushed for completion of Aadhaar-based eKYC for seamless eligibility of LPG subsidy under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).
Under the latest direction, the ministry clarified that the requirement of eKYC applies to those LPG consumers who have not done eKYC so far. If you are a non-PMUY customer and have done it before, then you are not required to do the LPG biometric Aadhaar authentication.
3. LPG Subsidy Cut To 4 Refills Per Year
The LPG subsidy rule to 4 cylinder refills continue even in August 2026. Recently, the government trimmed the subsidized LPG cylinder refills for Ujjwala beneficiaries to 4 cylinders per year from earlier 9 cylinders per year.
Ujjwala households will receive Rs 300 a cylinder on the first four refills each year - Rs 1,200 per beneficiary a year.
4. LPG-PNG Switch
The rule to switch to PNG if there is an infrastructure available for piped natural gas in your locality, will continue in August 2026. The government has made it mandatory that one household will have only one cooking gas, either LPG or PNG. But wherever PNG facility is available, households must switch to PNG mandatorily.
5. LPG Termination Rules
Apart from the normal surrender rules for LPG when changing locations, the government has made it mandatory to terminate Indane Gas, HP Gas and Bharat Gas connections within 30-days timespan once switched to PNG completely.
However, customers can avail a transfer voucher to reconnect with LPG cylinders, if moving to non-PNG area.

7. Gas Cylinder Booking & Refilling Rule
Additionally, the other booking and refilling rules continue to be in-place. The government has directed to book LPG cylinders through digital method instead of queuing at LPG distributors. All you have to do is book online and the LPG personnel will deliver the gas cylinders at your home.
Further, during LPG delivery, the customer will receive a (Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) aka OTP on their registered mobile number, which needs to be given for the competition of the delivery. If you do not have OTP then your delivery will be returned. This is to ensure that genuine customers receive their LPGs.
Lastly, the LPG refill lock-in period continues to be 25-days for urban customers and 45-days for rural customers.
