LPG Cylinder Big Change Soon: OMCs To Expand 10 Kg LPG: Is It Cheaper Than 14.2 Kg & 19 Kg? How to Book?
In a major relief to migrants, cafes, students, and even small food shops, the oil marketing companies are likely planning to expand sales of the composite 10 kg LPG cylinders, which are more affordable and flexible in usage compared to 14.2 kg LPG and 19 kg LPG cylinders. However, a major shift is expected in the prices of 10 Kg cylinders. Here's what Indian households and vendors must know!

As per reports, the state-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) such as Indian Oil, BPCL and HPCL are likely mulling expanding their sales of lightweight 10 Kg cooking gas cylinders. However, as per Times of India report, the cylinders could be sold at the commercial LPG rates if approved.
The development is expected to be a big boost for migrant workers, tenants, students, street vendors, cafes, and food kiosks who lack space for 19 Kg commercial LPG cylinders.
The HDPE-based composite 10 Kg cylinders could be available at selective retail outlets and gas agencies. The composite cylinder is a three-layer cylinder made up of a blow-moulded High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) inner liner, covered with composite layer of polymer-wrapped ber glass and tted with a HDPE outer jacket.
Presently, the composite cylinders are available at select distributors in all major cities in 5 kg and 10 kg sizes. Meanwhile, the 10 Kg cylinders are sold under the brand names HP Gas Ojas which offered by HPCL, Indane Xtralight which sold by Indian Oil; and Bharatgas Lite which is sold by BPCL.
LPG 10 Kg Cylinder Prices In Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata
According to the price update at Indian Oil, the 10 KG XTRALITE LPG CYL- Filled LPG is priced at Rs 673 per cylinder in New Delhi, the same 10 Kg cylinder is available at Rs 672.50 per cylinder in Mumbai city.
Also, the 10 Kg LPG cylinder is priced at Rs 691 each in Kolkata and Chennai, which is expensive than Mumbai and Delhi.
The 10 KG XTRALITE LPG CYL cooking gas is a lightweight composite gas cylinder. It is easier to carry and transport.
As per Indian Oil explainer, following are the advantages of using XTRALITE cylinders:
- They are light weight: the tare weight of an Xtralite cylinder is half of its steel counterpart.
- They have a translucent Body which helps customers to accurately check the LPG level against light. This will help customers plan their next refill easily.
- They are rust-free, and do not corrode. This reduces the chances of leaving stains and marks on surfaces.
- They are aesthetically designed which makes them visually appealing and ideal for modern kitchens of today.
Presently, the Xtralite cylinders are available at select distributors in all major cities in 10 kg size. But customers should know that the security deposit for domestic non-subsidized category, is Rs. 3000 for the 10 kg variant, as per Indian Oil.
Are 10 Kg LPG Cylinders Cheaper Than 14.2 Kg & 19 Kg LPG Cylinders?
Definitely 10 Kg LPG cylinders way cheaper than 14.2 Kg domestic LPG and 19 Kg commercial LPG gas cylinders.
In July 2026, the commercial LPG prices were trimmed for the first time this year in the range of Rs 173 to Rs 183.50 per cylinder. With effect from July 1, 2026, the 19 Kg LPG is priced at Rs 2,930 in Delhi from earlier Rs 3,113.50.
Meanwhile, 19 Kg LPG is priced at Rs 2,885.50 per cylinder in Mumbai, which is down by Rs 182. In Chennai, LPG price dropped by Rs 177 to Rs 3,106 per cylinder. Furthermore, in Bangalore, LPG is down by Rs 177 to Rs 3,021 per cylinder, while in Patna, LPG is down the most by Rs 173 to Rs 3,227.
However, 14 Kg LPG cylinder prices did not change in July 2026. Accordingly, the 14.2 Kg LPG price stood at Rs 942 in Delhi, at Rs 968 in Kolkata, at Rs 941.50 in Mumbai and at Rs 957.50 in Chennai.
