LPG Prices From August 1: Will 14.2KG & 19KG LPG Cylinder Prices Rise Or Fall Next Month?

Among many key changes that a common man expects at the start of a month, there is also a revision in the cooking gas prices. Indian oil marketing companies (OMCs) usually announce key changes to their 14.2 kg and 19 kg per cylinder prices along with other oil and gas-related prices on the first of every month. Accordingly, whether LPG prices rise or fall from August 1 will be keenly watched.

LPG Prices In India Change:

In July, 19 kg LPG prices were raised by Rs 57 to Rs 58.5 across metro cities. This was the fourth consecutive monthly cut in LPG prices by Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL). In FY26, LPG prices in 19kg have gotten cheaper by Rs 138 to Rs 144. Meanwhile, 14.2 kg LPG prices have been unchanged since April 8, 2025.

LPG Prices Of 19 KG Cylinders:

In July, the steepest cut in LPG prices was given for 19 kg sold in Delhi and Mumbai. In Delhi and Kolkata, 19Kg LPG is now below Rs 1,700 and Rs 1,800, respectively.

LPG Prices In Delhi:

The per-cylinder LPG price was decided at Rs 1665 from July 1, compared to the previous month's price of Rs 1723.50.

LPG Prices In Kolkata:

19Kg LPG price stood at Rs 1769 from July 1, compared to the previous Rs 1826.

LPG Prices In Mumbai:

The price of 19KG cylinder is currently at Rs 1616.50 from July 1, compared to the previous month's price of Rs 1674.50.

LPG Prices In Chennai:

The LPG price was trimmed by Rs 57.5 for July 2025 to Rs 1823.50, compared to the previous month's price of Rs 1881.

So far in FY26, in Delhi, LPG prices have plunged by Rs 138 in four months, while 19KG cylinder prices are down by Rs 144 in Kolkata, down by Rs 139 in Mumbai and Rs 141.5 in Chennai.

LPG Prices 14.2 kg Cylinder:

14.2 kg LPG cylinder prices are unchanged after the Rs 50 hike provided on April 8, 2025. Since then, LPG prices of 14.2 kg cylinders have been at Rs 853 in Delhi, Rs 879 in Kolkata, Rs 852.50 in Mumbai, and Rs 868.50 in Chennai.

What Key Factors Influence LPG Prices In India?

Some of the major factors that are considered in deciding LPG prices are:

1. International prices of LPG.

2. Crude oil price movement in the international market.

3. Rupee price movement against the dollar.

4. Custom duties.

5. Bottling costs.

6. Marketing costs.

7. Dealer commissions.

8. Port charges.

Will LPG Prices In India Rise Or Fall From August 1?

In its latest note, Swarnendu Bhushan, Co-Head of Research, Institutional Research at PL Capital, said, "For the past few quarters, the Government of India has not been compensating OMCs for the under-recovery on LPG. However, Q1FY26 was a respite as LPG prices came down sequentially by ~USD25/mt."

According to the analyst, IEA estimates global demand for liquid fuels to rise from 103mnbopd in 2024 to 105.5mnbopd by 2030, at a CAGR of 0.4% against 0.5%
during 2019-24. He added, "Growth will be led by LPG and naphtha, finding higher demand as petrochemical feedstock, clocking 2.0% and 2.4% CAGR, respectively, during 2024-30. ATF/kero demand is expected to grow by 2.1% CAGR."

At present, Indane LPG is sold and delivered in eight different pack sizes. The 5 kg and 14.2 kg cylinders are largely meant for domestic use and comprise almost 90% of all gas distributed, while the 19 kg, 47.5 kg and 425 kg Jumbo cylinders are marketed for industrial and commercial consumption.

Meanwhile, coming to crude oil prices. As per the latest data, Brent crude has surged by nearly 4% in the past one month, but declined by 23.3% in a year.

Accordingly, these factors will play a major role in deciding the LPG prices in India.
